I am not sure if my performance issues are due to Comcast or the modem. The performance is great, but there are occasions where my speed will seriously slump down to 1 MBps down, but 4 MBps up. But if there was such a thing as a good looking modem, this is it. By D. Hartwig

Great Little Modem - Motorola Surfboard SB6121

I absolutely love this modem. The led's are super cool and the design is awesome for how compact it is. I have mine in open air not surrounded by anything and this modem never heats up it and has stayed at the same temp as it first started. Speeds are amazing also, this modem keeps me either at my advertised rate without drops in speeds or it even increases it to almost 2x as fast as what I pay for. So far I got this to work with charter high speed called them to activate it and once activated There have Been no problems at all.

Overall for a great Modem to replace your old beat up docsis 2.0 modem and take advantage of the new speeds I would highly recommend this modem for a great internet experience. By vic

SB6121 Cable Modem - Motorola Surfboard SB6121

I wanted to upgrade my old cable internet service. Comcast told me I needed a newer modem, could either rent from them ($7 per month) or buy my own. Comcast has a list of recommended modems. This Motorola Surfboard SB6121 modem has a lot of good reviews and a few _very_ negative ones. My experience is quite positive: it has worked basically out of the box. I connected the cables, powered it up, and called Comcast to register it. The serial number and mac address are on a sticker affixed to the user's setup page that comes with the modem.

The modem has worked well so far. The speed tests showed I'm getting download and upload speeds handily exceeding what Comcast said I would get. One quibble which is why I gave it four stars instead of five: the link light for the ethernet connection [to your home router] blinks orange/red for normal 100 mbits operation! It's difficult to look at the device and not think something is out of order because of this. I can't believe Motorola would make such an obviously poor choice. Aside from that I recommend this modem. By Robert

My old modem was about 5 years old or older and I got it from Comcast. My ISP says I'm supposed to be getting 20 down and 5 up (which recently became 30 down). On that modem I was getting 8-25 down and 2-5 up. It was horrible. Everything cut out when I turned on netflix. So after getting this modem and using for a week or so, I noticed that everything is running at top speed at around 30-33 down and 5 up. I am very satisfied with this modem. By Apocalypse487
